Since time immemorial river valleys have been the cradle of civilization with rivers connecting lands, people, ideas and facilitating cultural exchange and economic interaction. Rivers have been natural facilitators for fostering people to people connect engendering a connect to values and sharing of both niche and everyday cultural practices beyond politics and ideologies. As a pulse of nature, riverine health is a measure of the eco-system entwined by the river. It hardly needs emphasis that systematic riverine management is central to food and water security of communities sharing the river basin.
