Potential Role of Northeast Region in Ethanol Production

India’s oil demand is expected to reach its highest demand in 2037 by 112.5 million barrels per day (mbpd) while the global projection for oil demand stood at 101 mbpd in 2022. India’s oil demand in 2022 witnessed the fastest growth pace as it stood at 5.2 mbpd and future projections indicate an increasing trajectory in the current decade. As the third largest importer and consumer of oil, India needs to boost indigenous fuel production that is in line with its international commitments to produce clean energy.
